-short fiction-
These eyes are strolling around that wide plaza. None of those people whom I know. Damn! Where’s mommy? I’m yelling in my heart. Mom told me to meet her at the plaza at 04.00 pm. Now, it’s already 04.30 pm. Oh, where are you ‘mom? Then I’m asking that question again.
It’s been a month I haven’t met my mommy. But unfortunately, today is a hectic day for me. Everything’s not going well today at my office. Actually, today is not a proper time to meet her. Abruptly, at 01.00 pm mommy called and asked me to meet her at the plaza at 04.00 pm without any rescheduling. Something important has to be discussed she said. Frankly, I was surprised and curious to know what she would say.
The clock is ticking and ticking all over again. My mom is used to be a discipline and punctual person. I’m questioning of her 1 hour late now. Where is she? Well, I should call her again after 3 times failed of calling her. Damn! Her cell phone is out of reach. Is there anything going wrong with her?
In the next 30 minutes, I still cannot call my mommy. Definitely clueless where is she now. And suddenly, I cannot believe what I’m watching! I’m watching mommy is walking together with a big young horrible man whom I know. And they’re approaching toward my position. No guilty expression on her face. Oh my God… I’m irritated.
“Mom, I’ve been waiting here for 1.5 hours and your cell phone definitely out of reach. Where have you been anyway? And this man.. Why are you sticking around with him?” I’m grumbling with hasty speech.
She’s just smiling while she’s saying, “Owh.. my handsome Jordy… I’m so sorry. I’ve forgotten to tell you that I’m going to be late for 1 hour. It’s about bad cell phone. Low battery. Haha.. C’mon.. you know Mr. Blake ‘right? You’ve met him once.”
I’m shaking my hand with Mr. Blake’s hand and then hugging my mom. Still with my bad look. No smile at all. Owh, it’s just have to be very important thing to be discussed, otherwise I’ll be in a deep trouble facing my boss because I had to stealing out of my office hour. Though, it’s only for 2 hours stealing time.
“So ‘mom… what’s the important thing? Let’s discuss it now.” I’m starting a conversation again.
“Honey.. I only wanna say one big thing during my old age. Don’t be shock… Are you sure you’re ready?”
“C’mon.. just say it.. I don’t have plenty time left.” I’m insisting.
“Ok… Babe, why don’t you tell my handsome boy about our happy news..” Mommy’s talking to Mr. Blake.
Then Mr. Blake starts to talk something to me.
“Jordy… I’m in love with your mom and we’re going to be married next month. What do you think? You agree, don’t you?”
That quite bright afternoon becomes dark and the thunder hits my face thousands times!
“Whaaaat…???? Are you nuts? You’re only about 2 years older than me and you’re going to marry my mom??? Whatta a great joke ‘huhhh???” I’m irritated.
“Honey, I’m sorry. But we’re really falling in love despite our different age.” Mom’s convincing me.
Suddenly, I’m crying like a five-years-old kid asking for a new toy. I’m strolling my body around and around on the floor. Oh my God, whatta a childish I am ‘huhhh? In the public place like this. Oh God.. But I’m terribly get nuts with my mom’s attitude here..
But then I’m hearing a voice calling me, “Jordy.. Jordy.. heyyy… wake up! Your mother is coming. She’s very worried not to be able calling you on the cell phone. She’s in the lobby. Go meet her.” Cynthia’s waking me up.
Oh my God.. it’s just a pathetic dream! Thank God..
I’m walking to the lobby in a high speed that I’ve ever done before. Actually, I’m lil bit worry about the news that my mom would tell me.
“Honey… where have you been? You told me that you would be able to meet me at the plaza at 05.30 pm ‘right? But you’re not there ‘hon. I’ve been waiting for 2 hours.” Mommy’s showing her anxiousness.
“Well, I’m sorry mom. Actually, I’ve been at the plaza earlier than you were. But, in my dream. Haha.. I’m sorry. But please, don’t tell me that you’re gonna say that you’re gonna marry Mr. Blake.”
“Oh my God. So you were sleeping while I’m waiting for 2 hours? What? Who’s gonna marry? What about Mr. Blake anyway? I don’t understand.”
I’m interrupting fast, “So, what’s the important thing ‘mom?”
“I want to discuss about buying a new apartment with you. What do you think?”
Bla bla bla….
I’m not listening to my mom’s following words. I’m just feeling great because my mommy won’t marry that big horrible John Blake. I guarantee, I won’t bear if I have to call that young man ‘DADDY’. Owh… grouse… hahaha…
Whatta weird dream ‘huhh.
I’ve decided not to sleep at the office — in the afternoon again. It won’t give me any pleasant dream. Hahahaha… And thank God, my boss is already gone. I’m safe… from his mumbling words. Hahaha…
